I’m delighted to announce (a little behind the fact if I’m honest) that the 5th Edition of PHP Object Patterns and Practice is now available – and with a lovely new cover too! This edition has been revised throughout in the light of both PHP 7 and PSR-2 (much code revision was needed to comply with that!). The book has new chapters on standards (PSR), Composer, and Vagrant as well as hundreds of updates and amendments.
This edition maintains the same emphasis on object-oriented design as always, working from object first principles through to the famed Gang of Four design patterns as well as the enterprise patterns of the equally awesome Martin Fowler.
With every edition, I’ve followed shifts in best practice. This time round, I’ve bid PEAR a fond farewell in order to focus on Composer – which is really the de facto standard now for dependency management.
You can, of course, get the book in all formats via Amazon, or read more about it and buy individual chapters at the Apress website.
I’ll be adding supplements to the book in this blog and, if I get author’s copies this time round, I’ll probably run a contest or two, so keep an eye on these pages!
